Heath Davies, Chief Executive Officer
Heath is an international CEO and investor with a particular expertise in driving substantial revenue growth by building strategic customer/partner engagements that deliver real customer advantage. Heath joined Clearswift in October 2012 and brings with him a wealth of experience in compliance, data and analytics. Heath has worked in the UK, Mainland Europe, North America, Australia, Vietnam, China, India and South Africa.
Before joining Clearswift, Heath was CEO of Alterian PLC, a market leader in big data analytics. During his time there led the successful transition and sale of the business to SDL PLC (lon:SDL) in 2012. Prior to Alterian PLC, Heath was at Sword Group (EPA:SWP) where he oversaw the profitable growth of the company from £25m to £150m over nine years, ultimately leaving the Group as CEO in 2010.
Heath holds a BEng (Hons) from University of Greenwich, London and is a UK Engineering Council Scholarship winner. He has attended executive education programmes at London Business School and Ashridge Management School.
Andy Balchin, Chief Financial Officer
Andy joined Clearswift in 2011 as CFO. He has been in the software business for 25 years, holding CFO and other senior finance positions at SmartStream, SeeBeyond, Documentum, Electronics for Imaging, Symantec, Ashton-Tate and Honeywell Control Systems. He has also held seconded positions in the Enterprise Business Agency and FAST (Federation Against Software Theft).
Andy has a history of driving profitable revenue growth in fast changing software organisations. Following his appointment as CFO of SmartStream in January 2007, Andy led the company through a full listing (IPO) on the London Stock Exchange. This in turn led to Dubai International Financial Centre Investments (DIFCi) buying SmartStream for £207m in December 2007, representing significant growth for shareholders and private equity investors, who had acquired the company for £85m just 11 months previously. Andy’s work on the SmartStream board involved close collaboration with the CEO and Dubai-based shareholders. His appreciation of the need to boost stakeholder value, combined with strong commercial and analytical skills, helped grow the business from £39m revenue in FY 2006 to £62m revenue in FY 2010, with an EBITDA margin of 25-30%.
Prior to SmartStream, Andy spent 6 years as European VP Finance at SeeBeyond, where he helped grow the European business from $6m to $70m revenue in 5 years. In 2005, SeeBeyond was acquired by Sun and Andy left in December 2006 following the successful integration of the two European businesses. Prior to SeeBeyond, Andy spent 5 years with Documentum as European Finance Director, helping it to grow from $6m to $60m revenue before being acquired by EMC.
Andy is ex-Deloitte Haskins and Sells and is a first-time pass qualified Chartered Accountant and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW). He is a Westminster University accountancy graduate.
Ciaran Rafferty, Senior Vice President WW Sales
Ciaran joined Clearswift in 2014 as SVP WW Sales. He is responsible for defining and driving a coherent sales strategy that drives customer satisfaction through the delivery of the global sales organisation and our valued partner network.
Before joining Clearswift, Ciaran held a number of senior management positions with companies such as Dun & Bradstreet, Compaq, Hewlett Packard, SAP, Sophos and Proofpoint.
A Sales and Channel professional with over 22 years in the IT industry, Ciaran has considerable experience in building and developing effective Go to Market models enabling sales and channel ecosystems to work effectively to add value to our customers and attract great prospects to the solutions of Clearswift.

Dat Thrower, Senior Vice President, Customer Services
Dat joined Clearswift in 2011 as Global Director of Customer Services. He is responsible for defining and driving a coherent services strategy that drives customer satisfaction through the delivery of professional, value-add service offerings.
Before joining Clearswift, Dat held a number of senior management positions within companies providing both traditional on premise and SaaS solutions in the fields of CRM, document management and talent acquisition, with responsibility for technical support and professional services organisations. Those companies include Cimage Enterprise Systems, Clarify, Nortel Networks, Amdocs and Lumesse (formerly Stepstone Solutions).
A Support and Services professional with over 20 years in service delivery roles, Dat has considerable experience in building and developing effective technical service teams, leading geographically dispersed service organisations and successfully managing the transition of service delivery functions across significant technology changes.
Committed to optimising the customer experience and maximising customer retention, Dat has a proven track record in the implementation of operational best practice, creating efficiencies aligned to the values of continual service improvement, delivering service enablement for next-generation products and solutions, and growing services business through the provision of value-add services.
Dr Guy Bunker, Senior Vice President - Products
Guy is an internationally renowned IT expert with over 20 years’ experience in information security and IT management. Before joining Clearswift in October 2012, Guy was a Global Security Architect for HP. He has recently authored a paper on security for the Elsevier Information Security Technical Report and co-authored the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) report on cloud security. Previously, Guy was Chief Scientist for Symantec and CTO of the Application and Service Management Division at Veritas (acquired by Symantec).
Guy is a frequently invited speaker at conferences, including RSA, EuroCloud and InfoSec. He has made many appearances as an IT expert on television, radio and in the press. He is a spokesperson for The Open Group’s Jericho Forum and an expert for the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA).
Guy is a board advisor for several small technology businesses and has published books on utility computing, backup and data loss prevention. He holds a number of US patents and is a Chartered Engineer with the IET.

Jacqui Summons, Group HR Director
Jacqui joined Clearswift in November 2012. Jacqui has over 25 years HR experience including senior HR roles at GlaxoSmithKline, Standard Chartered Bank and Accenture. More recently, Jacqui held the Group HRD role at Intec Telecom Systems for 5 years, leading a global HR team providing HR support across more than 50 countries.
Jacqui has a strong HR background across all HR disciplines and has extensive international HR experience. She has supported a number of organisations through significant notably associated with mergers and acquisitions.
Jacqui has played a significant role within senior management teams across many businesses in varied industries and has a Masters in Executive Coaching which enables her to perform effectively in supporting senior executives to reach their full potential and lead their teams effectively.
Maksym Schipka, Senior Vice President Engineering
Maksym is a well-recognized information security specialist with over 15 years of experience of researching and delivering security solutions.
Prior to joining Clearswift in November 2013, Maksym was responsible for leading European R&D of over 70 people at Kaspersky Lab, concentrating on anti-spam, URL classification, social networks protection, DLP and hosted and streaming technologies as a part of a group of messaging security solutions. At MessageLabs, he headed a large dedicated Research and Response team and served as one of the most senior technologists driving the technological superiority, managing execution of technological company strategy and pioneering 0-day threat detection.
Maksym is a regular speaker at various commercial and academic conferences and industry events such as Virus Bulletin, InfoSec, ISACA, IDT, IDC, CARO, AVAR and contributor to various online publications.
Maksym holds a number of patents in the area of 0-day malware detection and has a B.Sc. Hons. and M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics & Physics (both first class) from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University).
