At Clearswift we do a number of charitable events each year… and this month is Movember! For those who haven’t heard of it, Movember happens each November, run by the Movember Foundation which is a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, longer lives. Since 2003, millions have joined the men’s health movement, raising £402 million and funding over 1,000 programs focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.
The most common way to raise money is by growing a ‘Mo’ (a moustache). For those of us who have never grown one before, it turns out to be an interesting challenge. Will it grow, will I forget and shave half of it off..? The team from Clearswift is now a week in and the Mo’s are starting to show… and at least the comments about having forgotten to shave are becoming less… although 5 o’clock shadow can certainly hide progress!
So, the goal is to raise money, and you can donate on our page at: http://moteam.co/clearswift. There are about 80 men in our office, so according to the stats of 1-in-8 who will be impacted with a diagnosis of prostate cancer, that means 10 chaps here will be affected. Rather a sobering thought. Of course, there are lots of charities especially around cancer – but for this month, it’s the time for the Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to raise awareness of men’s health.
