Anti-Virus Integration with MAILsweeper for SMTP 4.3
MAILsweeper for SMTP 4.3 provides three different types of 'Scenario' for integrating with anti-virus (AV) tools. These are:
- The Content Scanner Scenario to integrate with the AV tool
- A MIMEsweeper Scenario for the anti-virus tool (wrapper) to link
via an API interface
- A Virus Manager Scenario to call a command line or executable AV
tool
Each AV product will only work with a specific type (or types)
of scenario, depending on how the integration was designed.
Generally, in a distributed deployment of MAILsweeper for SMTP,
you are recommended to use either a Content Scanner scenario or a MIMEsweeper™
scenario for a third-party anti-virus tool, rather than creating a Virus Manager
scenario.
