London, UK, 26 April 2010 – Clearswift, the software security company, has today launched a new version of its famous MIMEsweeper email security product, ‘MIMEsweeper for SMTP 5.4’.

The updated product has a range of new features including:

• Improved anti-spam engine: Clearswift’s new anti-spam engine now delivers >99% spam detection rate – thought to be the best in the industry, with an extremely low false positive rate. For the first time, the engine uses a cloud-based system to classify non-cachéd messages in real-time, meaning that responsiveness to spam outbreaks is significantly improved.
  
• Recipient Limiter scenario: A new function to allow control over the number of recipients in a message. This feature can be tailored to define exception email addresses which will not be counted.
  
• New file types supported: Two new file types (Adobe Air and Windows Shortcut) now able to be content inspected to allow a significant improvement in data detection.
  
• Support for Windows 7 and SQL 2008
