Clearswift launches CONTENTsafe

Sydney, Australia – 15 October 2008 – Clearswift today launches CONTENTsafe™, a new and innovative Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technology, which allows users to identify and register sensitive documents and prevent even small extracts of documents being circulated through e-mail, webmail, blogs or other Web postings.

Clearswift CONTENTsafe™ is designed to work with the MIMEsweeper™ content analysis and management engine, enabling legitimate collaboration and information sharing while preventing violations and the false positives often caused by generic policies. “Effectively securing information assets is high on the agenda in boardrooms across Australia, New Zealand and the world, yet organisations have been reluctant to invest in DLP solutions because they were perceived to be complicated and disruptive,” says Peter Croft, Managing Director of Clearswift Asia Pacific.

“Combining CONTENTsafe, with MIMEsweeper addresses this concern by providing a DLP solution that is proactive, delivers rapid protection and is easy to use and deploy. Importantly, CONTENTsafe enables business users to classify and protect their sensitive information, rather than relying on IT staff or complex and cumbersome data discovery solutions. ”

Business users simply identify the folders containing the sensitive information they wish to protect and CONTENTsafe then automatically scans that pre-defined network location at regular intervals. Once content has been registered, its values are shared with MIMEsweeper in real time to enforce the policy across all communications, regardless of language.

“Clearswift’s policy management capability means that an organisation can set criteria to suit its specific needs,” continues Croft.

“The information protected could, for example, include information related to a new acquisition or corporate restructuring exercise. The flexibility and simplicity with which policies are created with MIMEsweeper enables businesses to protect their sensitive information with ease.”

According to research conducted by Clearswift , more than 82 per cent of Australian organisations surveyed said data loss/data breach was a very important or imperative issue to their organisations. Twenty per cent had suffered a data loss in the last 12-18 months, and of those, 38 per cent had experienced more than one.
,
CONTENTsafe is available from 2nd December 2008 as an extension to MIMEsweeper for SMTP with the capacity to protect up to half a million documents.
