"The support is fantastic and the product is flexible enough for us to be able to do what we require without compromising the security of the system."
Dave Wormall, Principal IT Officer, City of Lincoln Council
City of Lincoln Council is the local authority serving Lincoln, a city with a unique character that makes it special for residents and attracts visitors and businesses. There are around 750 email users at the City of Lincoln Council and the Council receives around 1.5 million messages each month, 63% of these are spam that is detected by the Clearswift solution.
Existing customer City of Lincoln approached Clearsift in the hope they could help solve the challenge posed by recent Government Connect* (GC) standards that require GC Mail to replace less efficient and less secure methods of exchanging data between local authorities and government departments and yet still communicate with thousands of constituents, partners etc that fall outside of the GC network.
Clearswift have provided City of Lincoln with a cost effective solution that has provided significant return on investment. In addition to Clearswift MIMEsweeper for SMTP City of Lincoln now have two software mail appliances from Clearswift. These run on the customer's own Dell hardware. MIMEsweeper receives mail and the appliance then reviews and decides whether it should be dealt with by the GCSX server or the standard Local Authority internet server. The same happens in reverse when dealing with outbound mail.
